This French translation of the second canticle in the Divine Comedy offers an itinerary of Purgatorio and a description of its moral organization. As the title indicates, the volume also comprises four synoptic tables, including the moral organization of Purgatorio with the corresponding cantos for each moral aspect that is being considered; examples of virtues and punished vices along with the modality of their representation (sculptures, visions, voices, etc.); a chronology of Dante’s journey in Purgatorio marking the poet’s position in the purgatorial mountain relative to the corresponding cantos in the text; and a chart with longitudes and hours elapsed in travelling from the purgatorial mountain to other places on earth, such as Jerusalem, Italy, and the Ganges.
